Forklift Classifications
The following classes of forklift describe the use and fuel option of every forklift. Certification is truly required for each and every class of forklift which the operator will be using.
Class 1 - Electric Motor Rider Trucks
These forklifts are available with either pneumatic tires or cushion tires. Pneumatic tires are suggested for outdoor use during dry conditions. The cushion tired models are designed for indoor, smooth surfaces. These are electrically powered vehicles which make use of industrial batteries, that make them suitable within closed environments where the quality of air is a problem. Travel and hoist functions are controlled by transistor motor controllers. These are versatile units usually used everywhere from storage facility to the loading dock.
Class 2 - Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Trucks
For the type of environment where narrow aisles must be negotiated, this particular type of forklift is suitable. They are effective at making the most of storage space. Their unique design makes them perfect for small spaces and where speed is required.
Class 3 - Electric Motor Hand or Hand-Rider Trucks
These are hand-controlled and battery-powered models. Utilizing a steering tiller, the operator could operate the lift while standing in front of the truck. The tiller has controls mounted on top and is moved laterally to be able to maneuver the vehicle. The units which have smaller capacity use industrial batteries.
