Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm which is located on a rotating turntable. Usually, telescoping boom lifts are utilized for tasks that require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. Like for instance, employees could perform exterior renovations or repairs on buildings of medium height but using these lifts instead of having the extra work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The bucket of the boom lift generally just holds a single employee. These buckets are more suited to particular jobs such as electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available with both indoor and outdoor tires and come in electric and gas configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces under the work platform. These braces squeeze together in order to push the platform straight up. Because these kinds of equipment should be directly positioned beneath the work site, as opposed to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, offer bigger platforms that allow the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a problem with these models, since they must sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being utilized for window installation or cladding, because they provide the employees with the desired mobility; they are also a great choice for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Boom trucks, bucket trucks and cherry pickers each refer to the class a type of utility vehicle utilized specially for vertical work. Typically, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and controls the equipment. There is a bucket for where the worker can stand in addition to a winch for carrying and an actuator arm for lifting the boom.
Cherry pickers can raise personnel up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to lift both heavy supplies and equipment for one place to another. There are different kinds of cranes which could perform various purposes. Both of these different types of equipment excel at different tasks and are suitable for certain applications and accomplishing particular jobs.
