Kinds of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of equipment which enables employees to perform jobs without having to build a scaffolding. They are used to work on elevated structures, to do maintenance work and are common equipment found in factory and warehouse settings too.

Normally, construction lifts provide wheeled and powered bases which are capable of driving to the work place and have a platform on them which is responsible for elevating personnel. There are a lot of different kinds of lifts and each one is suited to various jobs and environment.

Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks, which are usually called "cherry-pickers", carry a long boom which has a bucket attached at the end. This bucket area is where an employee may stand. Normally, bucket trucks are used by utility workers and by landscapers. Landscapers often use these equipment to prune trees.

Every bucket truck has a boom assembly mounted to a regular truck, which enables these vehicles to move fast on normal roads. Also, this increases the area which this machine can service effectively. This is particularly important for power companies. For instance, a lot of these businesses use cherry pickers to elevate employees up so they could reach and work on transmission lines. The buckets must be frequently checked and insulated well since they are working near potential shock hazards.

Knuckle lifts or articulated boom lifts include a work platform mounted to an arm that can bend and reach obstacles. The base of the lift contains a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a complete circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.

Articulated boom lifts are utilized for landscaping projects and are handy for maintenance work on already-completed projects which do not need easy access to the area right below the jobsite. These lifts can be utilized for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, as well as areas that are hard to clean. Often knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the extended boom.
